Filing a VA Notice of Disagreement
As a veteran who has sustained injuries or developed an illness as a result of a service-related activity, you are eligible to file for VA benefits for your disability. Unfortunately, the VA does not always approve your claim or give your disability the rating it needs for appropriate compensation. If your claim is denied, you have the option to appeal.
Appealing Your VA Benefits Decision
Once you have received your letter from the Veterans Administration stating that your claim has been denied—be sure it’s not a pre-determination notice—you have up to 1 year to file a Notice of Disagreement (NOD) with the VA.
The Notice of Disagreement is a statement notifying the VA that you disagree with their decision regarding your claim.
